Ruth6/ I see you again.

룻기2장 17-23절

 

Hallelujah!

This is a spiritual walk with Grace Ju.

No one knows what kind of change a day like today will bring to your life. One day David went to deliver food to his brothers in Saul’s army. Before the day was over, he became a hero by killing Goliath (1 Samuel 17:17-58).

 

What a difference a day can make. What you do and what you decide today will affect the rest of your life.

 

Ruth’s life also changed one day. One day she went out to the fields to glean grain and found herself the object of attention and love from a man named Boaz. At the time, Ruth did not know who Boaz was.

 

But when she got home and told Naomi about him, she learned about him clearly. Naomi asked Ruth what had happened that day.

 

Her mother-in-law said to her, “Where did you pick it up today? Where did you work? May the one who took care of you be blessed.” So Ruth told her mother-in-law who she had worked for, and she said, “The name of the man who worked for you today is Boaz.” (Ruth 2:19)

 

Naomi’s life was hopeless and dull. But a wind of hope was blowing in her heart again. God was now restoring her life. What brought about such a change? The appearance of Boaz.

 

New words from Naomi’s lips

Three new aspects appeared in this story because of the appearance of Boaz. First of all, a new word came out of Naomi’s lips. The word blessing. She had never said such words before. But now she did.

 

Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, “May he be blessed by the Lord, for he has not ceased to show kindness to the living and the dead.” (Ruth 2:20)

 

Before, Naomi had been distressed by her empty house, empty heart, and empty hands. She had found nothing to be happy about. But now she was using a new word, “blessing.” Why was that?

 

Because she had seen the food that Ruth had brought. Ruth had picked up almost an ephah of barley and had also brought Naomi some of the leftover food from the table after eating with Boaz, as well as some roasted grain.

 

When Naomi saw the food, she said, “May he be blessed by the Lord” (v. 20).

 

She gave thanks for Boaz’s kindness and the Lord’s care. The name of the Lord began to come up on Naomi’s lips again.

 

As I went through the wilderness, I became a person of prayer more and more. If I didn’t pray, I felt empty and lonely even when I slept. In winter, I couldn’t even heat the room, and I had to endure the winter with just an electric blanket. Sometimes, I didn’t even have kimchi, so I learned the value of kimchi.

 

I was thankful for poverty and poverty. Because I desperately sought the Lord every moment in order to survive. In this way, the wilderness is a land where those who pray live. The greatest inspiration that the wilderness gives us is the inspiration of prayer. Anyone who stands in the wilderness cannot help but pray. Like Jacob, anyone who stands in the wilderness cannot help but offer a lonely stone pillow prayer and a desperate prayer of the Jabbok River. This is because the wilderness is a land of deficiency, a land of poverty and hunger.

 

Israel also learned humility when they suffered from famine. Israel had to suffer from famine in the wilderness. No matter how hard they searched for food in the scorching sun of the wilderness, they could not find it. They fell into a state of mental despair, and their poverty worsened. However, such a situation became an opportunity for them to experience God’s miracle. They came to seek God because they were humbled.

 

Truly, those who ‘ate bread with tears’ know the preciousness of life. When they become poor, they think again about how precious things that they used to just pass by are.

 

In the winter, when they cannot properly heat their homes, they come to understand the feelings of the elderly who live alone, and they look back on the hard work of the cleaning man who cleans on a cold day. Every little thing approaches them as a precious grace. When you stand alone and face trials, do not forget that this is a gift given to you.

 

Israel was strong because they suffered much, and Israel was strong because they went through more trials than others. Do not forget that in this gift of trials lies God’s love, God’s wisdom, and God’s power toward you. The suffering you are going through now cannot be compared to the glory you will receive in the future.

 

Naomi’s life began to change.

Are you disappointed or resentful toward God? Do you look back on your past and say, “I’m broke. My life is in shreds.”

 

The present may seem unbearable to you. And the future may seem even worse. But remember one thing: When Jesus Christ comes into the midst of that situation, everything changes.

 

Our Boaz, Jesus Christ, is here to help us. Through Boaz, Jehovah protected Ruth, provided for her needs, and promised to care for her. As a result, Ruth and Naomi’s lives began to change.

 

Naomi’s suffering was transformed into blessing, her empty hands were filled, and her despair began to be seen with eyes of hope.

 

Naomi's New Hope in Her Heart

 

People fall when they believe that "no matter how hard they try, it is useless and will never be useless."

 

A man's spirit can withstand his illness, but a broken spirit who can bear it? (Prov. 18:14)

 

Viktor Frankl was a famous Jewish psychiatrist. He was arrested by the Nazis and imprisoned in the death camp, Auschwitz. People died from hard labor and malnutrition.

 

All Jews who had wounds or lost the ability to work were sent to the gas chambers. Many committed suicide. However, there were those who persevered to the end.

 

It was not because they were healthy, but because they had a reason to live. Some of them lived like dogs to survive, while others lived to the end, maintaining their human dignity. What they had in common was that they did not give up their will to live or despair.

 

Naomi not only had new words on her lips, but also had new hope in her heart. There were three reasons why Naomi and Ruth had courage and hope.

The first reason we see in this passage was their awareness of their kinsman Boaz.

 

The word "kinsman" appears several times in the book of Ruth.

The law regarding kinsmen is recorded in Leviticus 25:25. This law states that if a Jew becomes poor and sells his property or is sold into slavery, one of his kinsmen may redeem him. The kinsman may redeem the person and his property by paying a price.

 

The second law that applies to kinsmen-kinsmen is mentioned in Deuteronomy 25:5-10, and that is the law regarding marriage. The law states that if a person dies, his brother is required to marry the widow and the firstborn son is to inherit in the name of the deceased.

 

At the same time, the kinsman is to preserve the inheritance until the child is old enough to inherit it. Naomi knew that these two laws applied to their relative Boaz.

 

He could have married Ruth and had children according to the law of Deuteronomy 25, and at the same time redeemed Ruth and her possessions according to the law of Leviticus 25. Naomi and Ruth had new hope because of Boaz.

 

Why did Naomi have new hope? It was because of what Boaz had said.

 

Then Ruth the Moabitess said, "He also said to me, 'Stay close to my young men until my harvest is finished.'" (Ruth 2:21)

 

Ruth remembered his words, and Naomi was encouraged by them. Naomi was given new hope.

 

The plane was lost in the sea. How shocked must their hearts have been at the moment the plane hit the ground? They must have trembled like aspen trees in shock and fear. Could we survive? The nine survivors set out on three rafts and began to drift for a month.

 

One sea In the middle, they fought against the scorching sun, the raging storm, and the waves. Even sharks over 3 meters long attacked their smaller rafts. But now, a gloomy situation awaited them all, waiting only for death. There was no hope at all. After drifting like that for 8 days, they had run out of food.

 

Really, it would be a miracle if they survived. That was when a man knelt down and prayed. And he leaned his head on the raft as if he were catching a bird flying in the sky, and covered his eyes with his hat. Just like when we were young, we would go around the mountains and fields to catch cicadas and dragonflies. Then, when he raised one finger and held his breath, some dragonflies would gently sit on the tip of his finger as if it were a stick. It was the same for him.

 

An unbelievable thing happened. A seagull sat on his head for a moment, as if it had mistaken him for a place to rest. Everyone's eyes were focused on him.

 

He They quickly caught the seagull and shared it with the crew. The seagull's intestines were used as bait to catch fish. They survived in such an amazing way.

 

The suffering seemed to go on and on, but keep His words in your heart!

 

No matter how hard it is, one Hold on to the word you have given and endure. God plans and works for me. Surely, God will send those who are prepared for me.

 

“Who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases; who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies; who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” (Psalm 103:3-5)

 

Lord, just as Naomi and Ruth received comfort and hope for life through Boaz, please give us hope and courage for life. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

 

 

 

내가 다시 주를 보나이다.

룻기2장 17-23절

오늘 하루라는 날이 당신의 삶 중에서 어떠한 변화를 가져올는지 아무도 모릅니다. 다윗은 어느 날 사울의 군대에 소속한 형들에게 음식을 전해 주고자 갔습니다. 그런데 그 하루가 지나기 전에 그는 골리앗을 죽임으로 인해 영웅이 되었습니다(사무엘상 17 : I7~58).

 

하루라는 날이 얼마나 큰 변화를 가져 왔는지. 오늘, 당신이 무엇을 하며 무엇을 결정하느냐에 따라 당신 삶의 나머지 부분은 영향을 받게 될 것입니다.

 

룻의 생애에 있어서도 역시 어느 한 날 큰 변화가 있었습니다. 그녀는 어느 날 이삭을 주우러 밭에 들어갔는데, 보아스라 이름 하는 사람의 관심과 사랑의 대상이 된 자신을 발견하게 되었습니다. 그 당시 룻은 보아스가 어떤 사람인지 알지 못하였습니다.

 

그러나 집에 도착하여 그 소식을 나오미에게 전했을 때 그에 대해 분명히 알게 되었습니다. 나오미는 룻에게 오늘 무슨 일이 있었는지 물어봅니다.

 

시어머니가 그에게 이르되 오늘 어디서 주웠느냐 어디서 일을 하였느냐 너를 돌본 자에게 복이 있기를 원하노라 하니 룻이 누구에게서 일했는지를 시어머니에게 알게 하여 이르되 오늘 일하게 한 사람의 이름은 보아스니이다 하는지라(룻기2:19)

 

나오미의 삶은 희망이 없었고 활기가 없었죠. 그러나 다시 마음에 희망의 바람이 불어옵니다. 하나님께서는 지금 그녀의 삶을 다시 회복시키고 계십니다. 무엇이 그러한 변화를 가져오게 했을까요? 바로, 보아스의 등장이죠.

 

나오미의 입술의 새로운 말

보아스의 등장으로 인해 이 이야기 속에는 세 가지 새로운 면들이 나타나게 되었습니다. 무엇보다도 먼저 나오미의 입술에서 한 새로운 말이 나오게 되었습니다. 복이라는 말입니다. 그녀는 전에 그런 말을 하지 않았습니다. 그러나 지금은 하고 있습니다.

 

나오미가 자기 며느리에게 이르되 그가 여호와로부터 복 받기를 원하노라 그가 살아 있는 자와 죽은 자에게 은혜 베풀기를 그치지 아니하도다.(룻2:20)

 

전에, 나오미는 그녀의 빈 집과 빈 마음과 빈손 때문에 괴로움을 가졌었습니다. 그녀는 즐거워할 만한 것을 아무것에서도 발견하지 못하였습니다. 그러나 지금 '복'이라는 새로운 말을 사용하고 있습니다. 어찌하여 그렇게 되었을까요?

 

그녀는 룻이 가져온 양식을 보았기 때문입니다. 룻은 거의 보리 한 에바를 주워왔고 또한 보아스와 함께 먹은 후에 상에서 남은 음식과 볶은 곡식 얼마를 나오미에게 가져다 주었습니다.

 

나오미는 음식을 보자 '그가 여호와로부터 복 받기를 원하노라 '( 20절)고 말했습니다.

 

보아스의 친절과 여호와의 돌보심에 감사를 올렸습니다. 여호와의 이름이 나오미의 입술에 다시 오르기 시작을 하였습니다.

 

저는 광야를 거치면서, 더욱더 기도의 사람이 되었습니다. 기도하지 않으면, 잠을 잘 적에도 공허하고 외로웠습니다. 겨울에는 난방도 하지 못하고, 전기장판 하나로 겨울을 견디어 냈고, 때론 김치도 없어, 김치의 소중함도 알았습니다.

 

궁핍도 감사요, 가난도 감사였습니다. 왜냐하면, 살아남기 위해, 주님을 매순간마다 간절히 찾았기 때문이죠. 이렇게 광야는 기도하는 자가 사는 땅입니다. 광야가 우리에게 주는 감동 중의 가장 큰 것은 기도의 감동이죠. 누구나 광야에 서면 기도할 수밖에 없습니다. 누구나 야곱처럼 광야에 서면 외로운 돌베개 기도를 드릴 수밖에 없고 얍복강의 처절한 기도를 드릴 수밖에 없습니다. 광야는 결핍의 땅이요, 가난과 굶주림의 땅이기 때문입니다.

 

이스라엘 역시 기근을 당했을 때 겸손을 배웠습니다. 이스라엘은 광야에서 기근을 겪어야만 했습니다. 태양이 작열한 광야에서 아무리 먹을 것을 찾아도 찾을 도리가 없었습니다. 정신적인 절망 상태에 빠지고 궁핍은 도를 더했죠. 그러나 그런 상황이 그들에게는 하나님의 기적을 체험하는 기회가 되었습니다. 그들이 낮아짐으로 인해 하나님을 찾게 된 것입니다.

 

정말로, ‘눈물을 흘리며 빵을 먹어 본 사람’이 인생의 소중함을 압니다. 자신이 가난해 보니, 예전에는 그냥 지나치던 것이 얼마나 소중한지 다시금 생각하게 되는 것이죠.

 

겨울에 난방을 제대로 못하니, 독거노인들의 심정도 헤아려 보게 되고, 추운 날 청소해 주시는 청소부 아저씨의 수고도 다시금 되돌아보게 됩니다. 작은 것 하나 하나가 귀한 은혜로 다가오는 것이죠. 홀로 서 있게 되고, 시련의 사건에 부딪혔을 때 이것이 내게 주신 선물이라는 것을 잊지 마십시오.

 

이스라엘이 강한 것은 많은 고통을 당했기 때문이고, 이스라엘이 강한 것은 남보다 더 많은 시련을 겪었기 때문입니다. 이 시련이란 선물 속에 하나님의 사랑이 있고, 하나님의 지혜가 있고, 하나님의 내게 향한 능력이 있다는 것을 잊지 마세요. 지금의 고난은 장차 받을 영광과 족히 비교할 수 없습니다.

 

나오미의 생애는 변화하기 시작하였습니다.

당신은 하나님께 대해 실망하거나 또는 원망하는 마음을 갖고 있습니까? 자신의 과거를 돌아보면서 '나는 모든 것이 파산되었어. 나의 삶은 온통 갈기갈기 찢겼어'라고 말하고 있지는 않는가요?

 

지금 현재가 아마 당신에게는 견딜 수 없는 기간으로 보일 것입니다. 그리고 미래는 더 나쁘게 보일지도 모릅니다. 그러나 한 가지 사실을 잊지 마십시오. 그 상황 가운데 예수 그리스도가 들어오시게 될 때 모든 것은 변화됩니다.

 

우리의 보아스인 예수 그리스도는 우리를 돕기 위해 이곳에 와 계십니다. 여호와께서 보아스를 통해 룻을 지켜주셨고 그녀의 필요를 채워 주셨으며 돌보아 주실 것을 약속해 주셨습니다. 그 결과로서 룻과 나오미의 삶은 변화되기 시작하였습니다.

 

나오미의 괴로움은 축복으로 변화되었고 그녀의 빈손은 풍성하게 채워졌으며 절망은 소망의 눈으로 바라도 보기 시작하였습니다.

 

나오미의 마음의 새로운 소망

사람들은 “자신이 아무리 노력해도 소용이 없으며 앞으로도 소용이 없을 것이라고 믿게 되었을 때 쓰러지고 맙니다.

 

사람의 심령은 그 병을 능히 이기려니와 심령이 상하면 그것을 누가 일으키겠느냐󰡕 (잠 18:14)

 

빅터 플랭클은 유명한 유대인 정신과 의사이죠. 나치에 의해 체포되어 죽음의 수용소인 ｢아우슈비츠｣에 갇히게 되었습니다. 중노동과 영양실조로 사람들은 죽어갔습니다.

 

​몸에 상처가 있거나 노동력이 없어진 유대인들은 모두 가스실로 보내졌습니다. 자살하는 사람도 많았습니다. 그러나 끝까지 끈질기게 살아남은 사람들이 있었습니다.

 

​몸이 건강해서가 아니고 살아 남아야 할 이유가 있는 사람들이었습니다. 이들중 어떤 사람들은 살아남기 위해 개처럼 살았고 어떤 사람들은 끝까지 인간의 존엄성을 지키며 살았습니다. 공통적인 것은 살고자 하는 의지를 포기하거나 절망하지 않았다는 것입니다.

 

​나오미는 입술에 새로운 말을 두었을 뿐만 아니라 또한 마음에 새로운 소망이 있었습니다. 나오미와 룻이 용기와 소망을 갖게 된 데에는 세 가지 이유가 있었습니다.

이 구절에서 볼 수 있는 첫번째 이유는 그들의 친족 보아스에 대한 그들의 인식 때문이었습니다.

 

룻기에서 '친족'이라는 단어는 여러 번 등장합니다.

기업무를 자에 대한 법은 레위기 25장 25절에 기록되어 있습니다. 이 율법은 만일 어떤 유대인이 가난하게 되어 자기의 소유를 팔거나 또는 자신이 노예로 팔리게 되면 그의 친족 중 하나가 그를 도로 찾아 줄 수 있다고 언급하였습니다. 그 친족은 값을 지불하고 그 사람과 소유를 도로 찾을 수가 있습니다.

 

두 번째 법은 신명기 25장 5~10절에서 언급하고 있는 친족- 기업무를 자에 적용될 수 있는데 그것은 결혼에 관한 법 입니다. 그 율법은 만일 어떤 사람이 죽었으면 그의 형제가 과부 된 자와 결혼하도록 요구되었고 첫번째 낳은 아들은 그 죽은 자의 이름으로 후사를 잇도록 되었습니다.

 

그리고 동시에 그 친족은 아이가 충분히 자라서 그 유업을 얻을 때까지 그 유업을 잘 보존해 주어야 합니다. 나오미는 그들의 친족 보아스에게 이 두 율법이 해당 됨을 알았습니다.

 

그는 신명기 25장의 법을 따라 룻과 결혼해 아이를 낳을 수도 있었고, 동시에 레위기 25장의 법을 따라 룻과 그녀의 소유를 구속할 수도 있었습니다. 나오미와 룻은 보아스로 인해 새로운 소망이 생기게 되었습니다.

 

나오미가 새로운 소망을 갖게 된 이유가 무엇일까요? 바로, 보아스가 한 말 때문이었습니다.

 

모압 여인 룻이 이르되 그가 내게 또 이르기를 내 추수를 다 마치기까지 너는 내 소년들에게 가까이 있으라 하더이다.(룻2:21)

 

룻은 그의 말을 기억하고 있었고 나오미는 그 말들로 인해 용기를 얻었습니다. 나오미에게는 새로운 희망이 주어졌습니다.

 

비행기가 바다에서 실종되었습니다. 비행기가 떨어지는 그 순간에 그들의 마음은 얼마나 놀랬을까요? 충격과 공포에 아마도, 사시나무 떨듯이 떨었을 것입니다. 과연 우리가 살아남을 수 있을까? 아홉 명의 생존자들은 세 개의 뗏목을 타고 한 달간 표류하기 시작하였습니다.

 

바다 한 가운데서, 작열하는 태양과 휘몰아치는 폭풍우 그리고 파도와 싸웠습니다. 심지어 그들에게, 3미터가 넘는 상어들이 자기들보다 작은 뗏목을 공격하기도 했습니다. 그러나 이젠 다들 죽음만을 기다리는 암울한 상황이 다가왔죠. 도무지 희망이 보이지 않았습니다. 그렇게 표류한지, 8일이 지나 먹을 식량조차 바닥이 났습니다.

 

정말, 그들이 생존한다면 기적이죠. 바로, 그때였습니다. 한 남자가 무릎을 꿇고, 기도를 올렸습니다. 그리고 그는 하늘을 날아다니는 새라도 잡을 듯이. 뗏목에 머리를 기댄 채 모자를 덮어써서 눈을 가렸습니다. 마치 우리 어렸을 때, 매미와 잠자리를 잡으러, 온 산과 들을 헤집고 다닐 때처럼. 그러다 가만히 손가락 하나를 세워 숨죽이고 있으면, 어떤 잠자리는 그것이 나무막대기라도 되는 듯이 살포시 손가락 끝에 걸터앉습니다. 그에게도 마찬가지였죠.

 

믿을 수 없는 일이 일어났습니다. 갈매기 한 마리가 잠시, 그를 쉬어갈 곳으로 착각을 한 듯, 그의 머리 위에 앉았습니다. 모든 사람의 눈이 그에게 집중되었습니다.

 

그는 재빠르게 그 갈매기를 잡아서 승무원들과 나눠 먹었습니다. 갈매기의 내장은 물고기를 잡는 미끼로 사용하였죠. 그들은 그렇게 기가 막히게 살아남았습니다.

 

고난의 끝은 보이지 않을 정도로 계속되는 것 같았지만, 그분의 말씀을 가슴 속에 소중하게 담으십시오!

 

아무리 힘들어도, 하나님이 주신 말씀을 부여잡고, 견디어내십시오. 하나님이 나를 위해 계획하시고 일하십니다. 반드시, 하나님은 나를 위해 준비 된 자들을 보내 주시죠.

 

“저가 네 모든 죄악을 사하시며 네 모든 병을 고치시며, 네 생명을 파멸에서 구속하시고 인자와 긍휼로 관을 씌우시며 좋은 것으로 네 소원을 만족케 하사 네 청춘으로 독수리같이 새롭게 하시는 도다.” (시 103:3-5)

 

주님, 최선을 다한 룻에게 보아스를 통해서 위로를 받고 삶의 희망을 가진 것처럼, 우리에게도 삶의 희망과 용기를 주옵소서. 예수이름으로 기도를 올려드립니다. 아멘.
