표지 그림은, 영국에서 활동하는 81살의 네덜란드 출신의 화가 Gretina가 주은총을 보고 영감을 받아 그린 그림입니다.

 

Gretina는 평생에 화가로써 살아오면서 자신에 마음에 드는 작품이 없었는데.

 

제가 화실에 들어 오는 순간 영감을 받아 그린 작품으로 자신의 인생을 두고 가장 마음에 드는 작품이라고 하였습니다.

 

Gretina는 두개의 그림을 그렸는데, 하나는 루시퍼의 영에 의해서 주은총이가 죽어가는 그림을 그렸습니다. 또 하나는 이 작품으로써, 루시퍼의 영에 의해 죽은 줄 알았던 주은총이 하나님의 기운에 점점 흘러 나와서 루시퍼(흑암의 세력)을 장악하는 그림입니다.

하나님과의 아름다운 만남

Hallelujah! This is a spiritual walk with Grace Ju.

They say that humans stop aging the moment they fall in love. The moment a single elderly person meets someone of the opposite sex and falls in love, the brain cells that were dying every day come back to life as if it were a lie. This means that a loving encounter has such great vitality that it can overcome even death.

 

A couple divorced and sent their six-year-old son to another family as an adoptive child. The child was raised by adoptive parents. The adoptive parents often beat the child and even left the child at home for a few days while the couple went on a trip together.

 

The more the child was abused by the adoptive parents, the more resentful the parents who abandoned him and left him. The child carried a weapon in his heart since he was 12. It was to find the biological parents who abandoned him and take revenge. The resentment that had been building up in his heart finally exploded at the age of 22 as a disease that destroyed his stomach.

 

He was discharged from the hospital after undergoing a gastrectomy, but he was readmitted 8 months later and had to have half of his remaining stomach removed. Nevertheless, he ended up being hospitalized for the third time in six months. The hospital concluded that he needed psychiatric treatment, not surgery. So the process of healing through counseling began.

 

The counseling revealed a surprising fact. Since this illness stemmed from resentment toward the parents who abandoned him, he needed to meet his biological parents and forgive them and reconcile. After much searching, he was finally able to find his mother.

 

His father had already passed away. When the pastor at the counseling center arranged their meeting, the son refused to even look at his mother for several days. However, his mother cried endlessly, begging for forgiveness from her son. After three days, the son buried his face in his mother’s chest and began to cry. After holding on to her for several days, the mother and son were finally able to truly accept each other. From then on, strange changes began to occur in the son’s stomach.

 

The strong acidic digestive juice that had been dissolving the stomach lining decreased, and it began to heal on its own. After a while, the son was completely cured. The son’s health, which would have been fatal if he had undergone a third gastric bypass surgery, was given new life when he met his mother and made a true reconciliation.

In the midst of suffering, I was alone for about three years. I suffered from deep depression, thinking, ‘I would rather die.’ In my middle age, I had lost everything, and I had to console my pain without anyone calling or visiting me. At that time, I held on to the most important thing in my life, “Jesus Christ alone.” If it weren’t for Him, I could have committed suicide, but the Lord gave me happiness, joy, and comfort.

 

Who are you waiting for now? Those who have no one waiting for them except in an empty room with no lights on are going through the desolate wilderness of life. But that’s not true. Even in the darkest darkness, in the middle of a desolate desert, there is someone waiting for us. There is a loving God who looks back on our tired and difficult lives, just like welcoming the prodigal son.

 

Life is finally complete when we meet someone. Because it is a fragile thing that can only be sustained when there is something to look at, someone to share with, and something to rely on. Standing alone is like a life without a shadow, meaning a dry life with no long or short story. The important thing is Jesus Christ. Christ must be shown. Only when Jesus is shown can we overcome all crises.

 

When I was in a crisis in my life, I thought of Christ’s words. I also thought of that intense first encounter with the Lord. The most precious encounter with the Lord captured my entire life.

 

In the Bible, all the great figures who accomplished great history had an experience of meeting God. The great figures in the Old Testament include Abraham, Jacob, Moses, Elijah, and Isaiah. They all met God.

 

Abraham left his hometown of Ur of the Chaldeans at God’s calling, and as he left according to God’s command, he met God several times along the way. Jacob also had an experience of meeting God in Bethel. After that, he met God at the Jabbok River and wrestled all night at the Jabbok River, and at dawn, he received the name Israel.

 

A great person in the New Testament is the Apostle Paul. He was originally a person who greatly persecuted Christianity, but he met the Lord on the road to Damascus. Paul became a new person and became an apostle.

 

What kind of emotion do you feel when you receive a calling?

In the movie Chariots of Fire, Eric Liddell says to his sister, “I feel God’s joy when I run.” I was really touched by this. If you obey God and live in that calling, you will feel God’s joy. God uses those who have a burning calling.

 

How moving it is to be called as God’s people. It was not the president who called you, but God who called you. God gives a strong reassurance to those who have been called, saying, “I will definitely be with you.” Everyone has a feeling when they first meet someone. When you know God superficially and then experience Him, this is the emotion you feel when you receive a calling.

You are always compelled by God’s love.

 

When you are filled with a sense of calling, you are moved, captivated, and compelled by God’s love. As a result, God’s love burns even more in your heart, and you feel a desire to devote yourself and be loyal to God who called you.

Isaiah was overwhelmed by God’s love and glory and confessed, “Here I am. Send me.” In the New Testament, Paul also confessed, “The love of Christ compels us” (2 Corinthians 5:13-15).

 

You come to possess the confidence that God is with you.

 

Even in the dire situation after the Exodus, when the Egyptian army was blocking you from all sides and the great Red Sea was blocking you from all sides, Moses had a strong confidence that he could confidently shout, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will work for you today (Exodus 14:13-14).”

 

This conviction will not only lead you to have the faith of “Amen” and a positive mindset in any environment, but it will also possess the unique wildness that only those who possess the spirituality of calling possess.

Like a roaring tiger or lion.

 

That is why, just thinking about Jesus makes your heart warm, and just thinking about your calling will give birth to a spirit of mission that makes your blood boil.

Just as Jeremiah confessed that if he did not proclaim the word of God, it would burn in his heart and sink into his bones, making him unbearable, in the New Testament, the Apostle Paul boldly considered his passion for spreading the gospel, his mission, to be more precious than life, even though he was afraid of the tribulation and death that would come to him.

 

This is the story of John Newton saving a sinner like me.

 

In a British family that had been doing business in several Mediterranean countries, there was a child whose father was a sea captain and whose mother suffered from tuberculosis. The child had to go to work at a young age because his mother passed away when he was young. From the age of eleven, he followed his father and learned the life of a sailor. However, due to the harsh life of a sailor and the lack of warm love, he became debaucherous and sinful. He became cruel and immoral, and after a few years, he left his father.

 

After that, due to his cruel personality, he experienced conflicts with his employers and was imprisoned several times wherever he worked. Then, he enlisted in the Navy as an officer candidate. While working on a slave ship that was being sold from Africa to America, he ended up becoming a slave himself. After becoming a slave and doing hard labor on the ship, he escaped from the slave ship with the help of a trading ship. After many years, he became the captain of a slave ship that traded slaves. So he became a very bad person who captured black Africans as slaves and sold them to Europe and foreign countries.

 

One day, while he was on a slave ship, he encountered a storm. The ship was wrecked and he fell into the sea and died. At that moment, he cried out, "God, if you exist, save me. Then I will live the rest of my life for you." and then lost consciousness. However, he was washed up on an island with his life saved and regained consciousness.

 

After deeply repenting, he returned to his hometown and, inspired by his experience on the shipwreck, dedicated the rest of his life to God. He became a pastor at the age of 39 and served the Lord as an excellent pastor from then on, dedicating many hymns to the Lord until he died at the age of 82. He is John Newton, the author of the hymn we love to sing. Among the songs written by Newton, this is one that we love to sing.

 

"Amazing grace, Lord, who saved a sinner like me,

I found my lost life and gained light.“

 

After his death, it is said that on his tombstone it was written, "John Newton, a believer of another religion, a prodigal son, and a slave trader in Africa, was born again by the abundant grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and became a new person."

Jesus is waiting for you outside the door. Starting the first step of the day with Jesus will make your year beautiful and your life blessed. A beautiful journey! It is the path we walk with Jesus.

 

Lord, please let us have a ‘shocking experience’ of meeting the ‘living God’ who is still working and speaking, not the ‘God’ we know and serve only with our heads and reason. Please let our dry lives become powerful lives held in God’s hands. Please let us testify to the God of power who makes a way even in the Red Sea of ​​my life! I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

 

인간은 사랑을 하는 순간부터 노화가 중단된다고 합니다. 독신 노인이 이성을 만나 사랑하는 순간부터 날마다 죽어 가던 뇌세포가 거짓말처럼 다시 살아난다는 것입니다. 사랑이 깃든 만남이 죽음이라도 물리칠 수 있을 만큼 위대한 생명력을 지니고 있다는 얘기입니다.

 

어느 부부가 이혼을 하면서 여섯 살 난 아들을 다른 집에 양자로 보냈습니다. 아이는 그 후 양부모 밑에서 자랐습니다. 양부모는 걸핏하면 아이를 때리고, 심지어는 아이만 집에 남겨두고 며칠씩 부부만 여행을 다녀오기도 했습니다.

 

양부모에게 학대를 받으면 받을수록 아이는 자기를 버리고 떠나간 부모를 원망하였습니다. 아이는 12살 때부터 가슴에 무기를 품고 다녔습니다. 자신을 버린 친부모를 찾아 복수를 하기 위해서였습니다. 가슴에 차곡차곡 쌓인 그 아이의 원한은 드디어 22세 때 위를 파괴하는 병으로 터져 나왔습니다.

 

그는 병원에서 위 절제 수술을 한 뒤 퇴원했으나 8개월 만에 다시 입원하여 남은 위의 절반을 잘라 내야만 했습니다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 그는 6개월 만에 세 번째로 입원하고 말았습니다. 병원에서는 그에게 수술이 아니라 정신과적인 치료가 필요하다는 결론을 내렸습니다. 그래서 상담을 통한 치유의 과정이 시작되었습니다.

 

상담 결과 놀라운 사실이 발견되었습니다. 자신을 버린 부모에 대한 원한에서 이 병이 비롯된 것이므로 친부모를 만나 용서하고 화해해야 한다는 것이었습니다. 수소문 끝에 가까스로 그의 어머니를 찾아낼 수 있었습니다.

 

그의 아버지는 이미 세상을 떠난 뒤였습니다. 상담실 목사가 그들의 만남을 주선했을 때 아들은 며칠 동안 그의 어머니를 쳐다보려고도 안했습니다. 그러나 그의 어머니는 아들에게 용서를 빌면서 하염없이 울었습니다. 사흘 만에 아들은 어머니의 가슴에 얼굴을 묻고 울기 시작했습니다. 그렇게 며칠을 붙들고 울던 모자는 마침내 서로를 진정으로 받아들일 수 있었습니다. 그때부터 아들의 위에 이상한 변화가 일어나기 시작했습니다.

 

위벽을 녹이던 강한 산성의 소화액이 줄어들면서 스스로 치유되기 시작했던 것이었습니다. 얼마 후 아들은 완치되었습니다. 세 번째 위 절단 수술을 할 경우 치명적이었을 아들의 건강상태가 어머니를 만나 진정한 화해를 이룸으로써 새로운 생명력을 얻게 된 것이었습니다.

 

고통가운데, 3년여를 혼자 있었습니다. ‘차라리 죽는 게 행복 하겠구나’ 라는 생각에 깊은 우울증에 시달렸습니다. 중년의 나이에, 모든 것을 다 잃고, 누구 하나 전화하는 이 없이, 누구하나 찾아오는 이 없이, 아픔을 달래야 했습니다. 그럴 때, 내 생애에서 가장 중요한 것, “오직 예수 그리스도”를 붙잡았습니다. 그 분이 없었더라면, 자살 할 수도 있었을 인생에, 주님은 내게 행복과 기쁨과 위로를 주셨습니다.

당신은 지금 누구를 기다리고 있습니까? 오직 불 꺼진 빈 방밖에는 기다려 주는 이가 없는 사람은 삭막한 인생의 광야를 지나고 있는 것입니다. 그런데 그렇지 않습니다. 그것은 진실이 아닙니다. 깜깜한 어둠속에서도, 황량한 사막 한가운데서도 우리를 기다려 주는 이가 있습니다. 돌아온 탕자를 맞아주듯 지치고 힘든 인생을 돌아보시는 사랑의 하나님이 계시는 것입니다.

 

삶이란 누군가와의 만남으로 비로소 완성됩니다. 바라보아야 할 대상이 있어야 하고 나누어야 할 상대가 있어야 하며 의지해야 할 무엇이 있어야 지탱할 수 있는 연약한 것이기 때문입니다. 홀로 선다는 것은 그림자 없는 인생과 같아 길고 짧은 이야기가 전혀 없는 무미건조한 것을 뜻합니다. 중요한 것은 바로 예수 그리스도이십니다. 그리스도가 보여야 합니다. 예수가 보여야 모든 위기를 극복할 수 있습니다.

 

저는 생의 위기 상황에 그리스도의 말씀이 생각났습니다. 주님과의 그 강렬했던 첫 만남도

생각이 났습니다. 가장 소중한 주님과의 만남이 나의 평생을 사로잡았습니다.

 

성경에 보면 위대한 역사를 이룩한 인물들은 모두 하나님을 만난 경험이 있습니다. 구약에서 위대한 인물은 아브라함, 야곱, 모세, 엘리야, 이사야 등을 들 수 있습니다. 이들은 모두 하나님을 만난 자들입니다.

 

아브라함은 하나님의 부르심을 입어서 그의 고향 갈대아 우르를 떠났고, 하나님의 명령에 따라 떠나면서 도중에서 하나님을 여러 차례 만났습니다. 야곱도 역시 벧엘에서 하나님을 만나는 경험을 했습니다. 그 후 얍복 강가에서 하나님을 만나서 밤새도록 얍복 강가에서 씨름을 하였으며 동녘에 해가 뜰 무렵에 이름을 이스라엘이라고 받은 경험이 있습니다.

 

신약에 나오는 위대한 인물로 사도바울을 들 수 있습니다. 그는 원래 기독교를 굉장히 핍박했던 사람이지만, 이런 그가 다메섹 도상에서 주님을 만나게 되었습니다. 바울은 새 사람이 되어 사도가 된 것입니다.

 

소명을 받으면 어떤 감동을 느끼게 될까요?

영화 <불의 전차>에서 에릭 리들이 여동생에게 이렇게 말합니다. “나는 달릴 때 하나님의 기쁨을 느껴” 저는 이 말이 참 마음에 와 닿았습니다. 하나님께 순종하여 그 부르심 가운데 살아가면 하나님의 기쁨을 느끼게 됩니다. 하나님은 불타는 소명자를 사용하십니다.

 

하나님의 사람들로 부르심을 받았다는 사실이 얼마나 감격스러운지. 대통령이 불러 주신 것이 아니라 하나님께서 불러주셨습니다. 하나님은 소명 받은 자에게 “내가 너와 반드시 함께 하겠다.”라고 강한 재 확신을 주십니다. 사람은 누구나 첫 만남에 느낌이 있습니다. 하나님을 표면적으로만 알다가 하나님을 경험하게 되었을 때, 소명을 받으면서 느끼는 감동입니다.

 

하나님의 사랑에 언제나 강권 당하게 됩니다.

소명감이 충만하면 하나님의 사랑에 감격하고 사로잡히고 강권 당하게 됩니다. 그래서 하나님이 사랑이 심령 속에서 더욱 불붙게 되어 자신을 불러 주신 하나님께 헌신하고 싶고 충성하고 싶은 마음이 솟구치는 것입니다.

 

이사야는 하나님의 사랑하심과 그 영광에 압도되어 “내가 여기 있나이다. 나를 보내소서.” 라는 고백을 합니다. 신약에서 바울도 “그리스도의 사랑이 우리를 강권하시는 도다”(고후 5:13-15)라고 고백했죠.

 

하나님이 자신과 함께 하신다는 확신을 소유하게 됩니다.

출애굽한 뒤로는 애굽 군대, 앞에는 거대한 홍해가 가로막고 있는 사면초가의 상황에서도 모세는 “너희를 두려워 말고 가만히 서서 여호와께서 오늘날 너희를 위하여 행하시는 구원을 보라(출 14:13-14)”라고 당당하게 외칠 수 있는 강한 확신이 있었습니다.

 

바로 이 확신은 어떤 환경 속에서도 “아멘”의 믿음과 긍정적인 사고방식으로 나아가게 할 뿐 아니라 이 확신은 소명의 영성을 소유한 자만이 가지는 특유의 야성을 소유하게 됩니다.

마치 포효하는 호랑이나 사자처럼 말입니다.

 

그래서 예수님만 생각해도 가슴이 뜨거워지고 자신의 소명만 생각해도 피가 뜨거운 사명정신을 낳게 됩니다.

 

예레미야는 하나님의 말씀을 선포하지 않으면 자신의 중심에 불붙는 것 같아 골수에 사무쳐서 답답하여 견딜 수 없다는 것을 고백하고 있듯이, 신약에서 사도바울은 자신에게 다가올 환난과 죽음에 대한 두려움이 있어도 담대하게 자신의 사명인 복음 전파에 대한 열정을 생명보다 더 귀한 것으로 여겼습니다.

 

존 뉴톤의 나 같은 죄인 살리신 이야기입니다.

지중해 여러 나라에서 장사하던 한 영국에 선장이 아버지이고, 어머니가 결핵병을 앓고 있는 가정에 한 아이가 있었습니다. 그 아이는 어린 시절에 어머니가 돌아가시게 되면서 어린 나이에 일터로 나가야만 했습니다. 열한 살이 되었을 때부터 아버지를 따라 다니며 선원생활을 배우게 된 그는 거치른 선원생활과 따뜻한 사랑을 받지 못하면서 죄악 된 생활로 방탕하게 되었습니다. 그는 포악해졌고 부도덕하여 몇 해 지나지 않아 그는 아버지 곁을 떠나게 되었습니다.

 

그 후 그는 포악스러운 성격으로 그가 취직하는 곳마다 고용주와의 충돌로 여러 번 투옥되는 경험을 겪게 됩니다. 그러다가 해군에 장교후보생으로 입대하게 됩니다. 아프리카에서 미국으로 팔려가는 노예선에서 일하다 우여곡절 끝에 자기 자신도 노예로 전락하고 말았습니다. 노예가 되어서 배에서 고된 노역을 하다가 무역선의 도움으로 노예선에서 탈출하였습니다. 많은 세월이 흐른 후, 그는 노예를 매매하는 노예선의 선장이 되었습니다. 그래서 그는 아프리카의 흑인들을 노예로 잡아다가 유럽과 이국에 파는 아주 못된 사람이 되었습니다.

 

어느 날 노예선을 타고 가다가 폭풍우를 만났습니다. 배가 파선되어 바다에 빠져 죽게 되었습니다. 그 순간에 그는 "하나님, 만약 당신이 계신다면 나를 살려 주십시오. 그러면 앞으로 남은 인생은 주님을 위해서 살겠습니다."라고 소리친 후 정신을 잃게 되었습니다. 그런데 그는 구사일생으로 어느 섬에 떠밀려 와서 의식을 회복하게 되었습니다.

 

깊이 뉘우친 후 그는 고향으로 돌아 온 뒤 난파선에서 겪었던 경험에 자극을 받아 여생을 하나님께 바쳤습니다. 39세에 목사가 되어, 그때부터 훌륭한 목사로 주님을 섬기면서 82세로 죽을 때 까지 많은 찬송을 주님께 봉헌하였습니다. 그는 우리가 즐겨 부르는 찬송가의 저자인 존 뉴톤입니다. 뉴톤이 작사한 노래 중에 우리들이 애창하는 곡이죠.

 

"나 같은 죄인 살리신 주 은혜 놀라와

잃었던 생명 찾았고 광명을 얻었네."

 

그가 죽은 후 그의 묘비에는 "타 종교인이었으며 탕아였고 아프리카의 노예상으로 살아왔던 존 뉴톤은 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 풍성한 은혜로 거듭나서 새로운 사람이 되었다"라고 기록되어 있다고 합니다.

 

예수님은 문 밖에서 당신을 기다리고 계십니다. 하루의 첫 걸음을 예수와 함께 시작하면 당신의 일 년이 아름답고 일생이 복될 것입니다. 아름다운 동행! 예수와 함께 가는 길입니다.

 

주님, 머리와 이성으로만 알고 섬기던 “하나님”이 아니라, 지금도 역사하시고 말씀하시는 ‘살아계신 하나님’을 만나는 ‘충격적인 경험’을 하게 하소서. 메마른 인생이 하나님의 손에 붙들리는 능력 있는 인생이 되게 하옵소서. 내 인생의 홍해에도 길을 내는 능력의 하나님을 간증하게 하옵소서! 예수 이름으로 기도하옵니다. 아멘.
